Colorado Legislature The Bully Pulpit

Senate Bill 25-047: Enforcement of Federal Immigration Law

Written by Scott James

Senate Bill 25-047 restores law enforcement’s ability to report criminal illegal immigrants to ICE, repealing dangerous sanctuary policies that put Colorado communities at risk. No more shielding criminals from deportation. Tell your legislators to VOTE YES on SB 25-047 and restore law and order in Colorado!

Senate Bill 25-047 restores law enforcement’s ability to cooperate with federal immigration authorities and repeals dangerous sanctuary policies that have allowed criminal illegal immigrants to remain in Colorado communities. Specifically, this bill:

  • Reinstates 2006 laws that required local law enforcement to report illegal immigrants arrested for crimes to federal immigration authorities.
  • Prohibits local governments from enacting sanctuary policies that interfere with federal immigration law.
  • Repeals restrictions on arrests at courthouses, ensuring criminal illegal immigrants cannot use the justice system as a shield from deportation.
  • Eliminates state and local bans on immigration detention contracts, allowing law enforcement to hold criminal illegal aliens for ICE.

This bill protects Colorado communities by restoring law and order and ensuring that criminal illegal aliens are turned over to ICE, not released back onto our streets.

My Thoughts on the Bill

For too long, Colorado’s radical left has prioritized illegal immigrants over law-abiding citizens, creating sanctuary policies that protect criminals while endangering our communities. SB 25-047 finally reverses this madness.

Why SB 25-047 is Essential for Colorado

🔴 Ends Sanctuary Cities – SB 25-047 prohibits local governments from blocking ICE enforcement, ensuring that criminal illegal aliens don’t get a free pass to victimize our communities.

🔴 Stops Criminals from Evading Justice – Radical Democrats made courthouses safe havens for illegal immigrants, shielding criminals from ICE. This bill ends that dangerous loophole.

🔴 Protects Taxpayers – Colorado wastes millions of taxpayer dollars housing and protecting illegal immigrants. SB 25-047 stops taxpayer-funded sanctuary policies and ensures criminal aliens are deported, not released.

🔴 Strengthens Public Safety – When law enforcement can cooperate with ICE, violent offenders aren’t set free to commit more crimes. SB 25-047 keeps dangerous criminals off our streets.

Protect Colorado’s Citizens, Not Criminals

Colorado should be a safe place for law-abiding Americans, not a haven for criminal illegal aliens. This bill ensures law enforcement can do their job and protect our communities from dangerous repeat offenders.

📢 Tell your legislators to VOTE YES on SB 25-047! No more sanctuary for criminals—restore law and order in Colorado.
