Weld County Government is currently seeking civic-minded residents to fill three vacant positions on the Weld County Planning Commission. This is a great volunteer opportunity to get involved and help shape the future of land use and development across the county.
The Planning Commission plays a key role in guiding Weld County’s land use and development. Members conduct public hearings on zoning and land-use issues, review applications and proposed amendments to county policies and provide recommendations to the board of county commissioners on matters related to planning, zoning and subdivision development.
Open positions:
- Advisory Board District 4 representative: Applicants must live in Kersey, Gill, Barnesville, Evans, or parts of Greeley east of 14th Avenue. This district also covers portions of school districts RE-7 and RE-6.
- Advisory Board District 6 representative: open to residents in Roggen, Keenesburg, Hudson, Masters, Dearfield, Fort Lupton, Brighton and Weldona. District 6 includes school districts RE-3J, RE-50J, RE-8, RE-27J and RE-20J.
- At-Large member: open to any Weld County resident, regardless of district.
Applicants are welcome from all backgrounds. While a history in land-use planning, real estate or construction is helpful, it is not required. Applicants must reside within the geographic area they wish to represent both at the time of appointment and throughout their term.
The Planning Commission meets once a month, on the first Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. Regular attendance and preparation for meetings are essential to ensure thoughtful and informed recommendations.
Applications are being accepted through April 30, 2025. To learn more about these opportunities and apply, visit www.weld.gov/go/boardopenings.
