The Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment (WCDPHE) is highlighting the importance of preventive health care for women during National Women’s Health Week and reminding residents of the programs available to support their health journey.
Through the Women’s Wellness Connection (WWC) Program, WCDPHE offers free breast and cervical cancer screenings to eligible women in Weld County. Early detection through regular screenings can prevent serious health outcomes and help women make informed choices about their health.
Additionally, WCDPHE participates in the WISEWOMAN program, short for Well-Integrated Screening and Evaluation for Women Across the Nation. This program provides cardiovascular screenings, personalized risk-reduction counseling, referrals to lifestyle programs, and other healthy behavior support services. These resources help women manage hypertension and reduce their risk of cardiovascular disease.
“When you’re in the know, you’re in control,” said WCDPHE Public Health Services Director Shaun May. “We are proud to offer programs that help women take proactive steps toward their health and well-being.”
National Women’s Health Week, observed annually after Mother’s Day, serves as a reminder for women to prioritize their health by scheduling necessary screenings, making healthy lifestyle choices and connecting with available community resources.
