Weld County has been my home my entire life. I’ve been honored to serve you as Weld County Commissioner, and today I’m announcing my campaign for a third and final term on the Weld County Board of County Commissioners.
When I first ran in 2018, we talked about “A New Day for Weld.” In 2022, we made it clear that our focus was being Right For Weld – right on the issues, right on the priorities, and right for the people who call this county home. As I ask for a final term, that mission hasn’t changed. I’m running to finish the job and keep our government, our policies, and our priorities #RightForWeld.
When you first hired me for this job, I promised to bring Weld County values to the Weld County government: limited, efficient, and accountable. Government should do a few things well – protect public safety, maintain the basics like roads and infrastructure, and respect taxpayers and property rights. It should not try to run every part of your life.
Over the past two terms, we’ve worked hard to keep that promise. Together with my fellow commissioners and our county team, we have:
- Kept Weld County on a strong fiscal footing while holding the line on taxes. We continue to have no debt and no county sales tax!
- Invested in roads, bridges, and critical infrastructure that keep people and commerce moving.
- Supported law enforcement and first responders so families and businesses can feel safe.
- Stood up to one-size-fits-all mandates from Denver and Washington that don’t fit who we are.
That’s what it means to be Right For Weld – making sure county government stays in its lane and on your side.
Over these years, I’ve also been asked to lead many of the boards and coalitions that shape Weld County’s future. I’ve served as Chairman of the Weld Board of County Commissioners in 2022 and am slated to serve again in 2026. Regionally, I’ve chaired the North Front Range Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Upper Front Range Transportation Planning Region, and the I-25 and Highway 34 coalitions, and helped launch the GoNoCo34 transit management organization to ensure our roads and infrastructure keep pace with growth. I’ve worked closely with our emergency communications, health and human services, public health, IT, planning, and public works departments to keep county government responsive and effective.
At the state level, I chair the Works Allocation Committee, serve on the Child Welfare Allocation and Joint Alignment committees, and represent county commissioners on the Colorado Benefits Management System Executive Steering Committee. I Chair Colorado Counties, Incorporated’s General Government Steering Committee. I was humbled to be named County Commissioner of the Year by Colorado Counties, Incorporated – an honor that really belongs to the people of Weld County who expect and demand leadership that is, and stays, Right For Weld.
There is more work to do, especially as Weld County continues to grow. We need to manage that growth responsibly, protect our agricultural heritage and energy economy, and make sure county government remains lean, efficient, and responsive to you – not to bureaucrats or special interests.
This campaign is about my final chapter of public service. If you re-hire me for this third term, I’ll do exactly what I have done in the first two terms and give it everything I’ve got – and then it will be time for new leadership to step up. My goal is to hand off a county government that is strong, stable, and firmly on the right path for Weld County’s future.”
I’m running to:
- Protect Weld County’s conservative, common-sense approach to government
- Keep county finances strong and transparent, and debt-free
- Prioritize roads, infrastructure, and public safety
- Continue working shoulder-to-shoulder with all 32 municipalities so Weld County grows the right way – orderly, dynamic, and true to who we are
- Defend local control and Weld County’s way of life
If you share that vision – if you believe Weld County should stay Right For Weld – I’d be honored to have your support: your prayers, your time, your voice in your neighborhood, and, if you’re able, your financial support.
