The Weld County Board of Commissioners has designated August as Child Support Awareness Month to spotlight a vital program aiding millions of children and families nationwide. This annual initiative underscores the significance of child support services, which play a crucial role in fostering financial stability, family cohesion, reduced reliance on public assistance and enhancing children’s prospects for future success.
“Accountability is paramount, with collected funds reinvested into the economy to support children and youth as well as bolster our efforts in efficiently serving Weld County families,” stated Scott James, Commissioner Coordinator for the Department of Human Services (DHS)
In 2024, CSS received significant accolades, including the “Outstanding Large County” and “Most Improved Large County” awards from the Colorado Family Support Council. Currently, Weld County stands as the sole large county meeting the state’s 65% support collection goal, maintaining an average of 66.16%.
