Weld County marks National Health Education Week, October 21-25, 2024, recognizing the efforts of the Health Education, Communication, and Planning (HECP) division. Through evidence-based programs, data-driven initiatives, and health literacy campaigns, HECP empowers residents to make informed choices, improving community wellness and promoting resilience across the county.

The Weld County Board of Commissioners read a proclamation declaring Oct. 21 to 25, 2024, as National Health Education Week. This recognition highlights the contributions made by the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment’s (WCDPHE) Health Education, Communication, and Planning (HECP) division in building resilience and improving overall public health for residents of Weld County.

The HECP division is dedicated to promoting health literacy, disease prevention, and wellness throughout the county by offering evidence-based programs and actively working to improve the health outcomes of residents and empower individuals to make informed choices.

“Prevention and education are worth their weight in gold,” said Commissioner Coordinator Perry Buck, “I am so proud of what you do.”

HECP also plays a role in public health through data collection and analysis with large-scale projects such as the Community Health Improvement Plan and the Community Health Survey, instrumental in identifying community health needs, tailoring programs to meet those needs and promoting positive behaviors that can lead to long-term health benefits.

National Health Education Week offers an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication of the HECP division’s staff and their efforts to provide education, resources, and consultation to the community. Weld County residents are encouraged to explore the wide range of health education programs and services available through WCDPHE.
