The Weld County Board of County Commissioners is hosting an upcoming community meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 11, 2024. This meeting aims to bring together municipal and county leaders to discuss coordination of what future growth and development collaboration may be from an urban and rural perspective. The county/municipal meeting will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Weld County Administration Building, located at 1150 O St, Greeley, CO 80631.
The meeting will provide a platform for municipalities to share their insights, concerns, and ideas regarding the future growth and development of the county. Key representatives from the Weld County Department of Planning, as well as officials from various municipalities, will be in attendance to facilitate the discussion and address any questions from the community.
Beginning last year, the Department of Planning Services reviewed how the Planned Unit Development (PUD) process was being utilized and suggested removing it from Chapter 27 of the code after noticing significantly low application requests because the process was outdated and caused confusion between staff and public. PUDs offer site specific alternative methods for property owners and developers to develop land that doesn’t meet the standard zone district criteria. After hearing from residents at the first reading of the code change to amend Chapter 27, a public meeting was held later in the month to discuss concerns. This upcoming meeting continues the public input process and discussion.
“We believe in the power of community engagement and the importance of including all municipalities and community members in the planning process,” said Elizabeth Relford, Interim Director at the Weld County Department of Planning. “This meeting will provide a platform for meaningful conversations with our municipal partners to facilitate discussions as we move forward with future coordinated planning agreements.”

This meeting aims to foster open dialogue and collaboration, ensuring that the needs and aspirations of the municipalities and communities are considered and heard for future planning decision-making.
