In May, five community improvement projects were selected for funding via the Weld County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program to benefit low- and moderate-income individuals. On Monday, the board of commissioners approved an additional community improvement project that was presented by the CDBG Advisory Committee on Aug. 7.
CDBG funds will provide ten single-family homes up to $15,000 per home in three manufactured home parks and on individual lots in Old Town Erie to make repairs that directly address health and safety concerns, including weather-sensitive construction. Funds will be used for repair costs and administration of fees to Brothers Redevelopment Inc., a nonprofit that Erie will contract with to provide the needed maintenance. The project was awarded $167,000, which is the bulk of the remaining 2024 CDBG funding amount.
“This project is a fantastic benefit to residents of Old Town Erie who are in need of health and safety upgrades,” said Weld County Commissioner Chair Kevin Ross. “We’re thankful to CDBG staff for bringing it forward so we can help our low- and moderate-income residents thrive where they live.”
