House Bill 25-1133 is yet another thinly veiled gun control measure disguised as “safety reform.” This bill:
- Bans anyone under 21 from purchasing ammunition, stripping legal adult gun owners of their right to buy ammo.
- Requires all ammunition to be locked up behind counters, treating responsible gun owners like criminals.
- Mandates extra paperwork, ID checks, and delivery restrictions, making it harder for Coloradans to buy ammunition online or in stores.
- Imposes criminal penalties on retailers for even minor infractions, further discouraging businesses from selling ammunition.
This bill has nothing to do with “safety” and everything to do with attacking the Second Amendment through bureaucratic red tape.
My Thoughts on the Bill
Colorado’s anti-gun politicians never stop looking for ways to chip away at your rights. HB 25-1133 is a backdoor attack on gun ownership, making it more expensive, time-consuming, and legally risky to buy ammunition.
Why HB 25-1133 Must Be Stopped
❌ Strips 18- to 20-year-olds of their rights – If an 18-year-old can vote, serve in the military, and pay taxes, they should be able to buy ammo.
❌ Criminalizes retailers – Mom-and-pop gun stores will be buried under excessive regulations and penalties, forcing many out of business.
❌ Creates ammo shortages – Government restrictions will make it harder for law-abiding citizens to get ammunition, leading to price spikes and supply shortages.
❌ Does nothing to stop crime – Criminals don’t buy their ammo legally. This law only punishes responsible gun owners.
