STAY IN THE KNOW WITH THE WCR 6 AND WCR 13 ROUNDABOUT NEWSLETTER

Written by Team James

Construction of the WCR 6 & 13 roundabout is underway, with completion expected by August 2025. Residents can stay updated by signing up for the county’s project newsletter. Drivers are urged to respect road closures and detours to ensure safety and prevent delays. Check the Weld County Road Advisory Map for updates.

As construction of a roundabout is underway at the intersection of Weld County Road (WCR) 6 and WCR 13, residents are asked to sign up for an email newsletter, intended to keep them informed of significant progress throughout the roughly eight-month project. Signing up for the newsletter is easy. Visit the county’s newsletter sign-up page, enter an email address and select “WCR 6 & 13 Roundabout.”

“Construction is necessary to continue making our transportation infrastructure as safe and efficient as possible,” said Perry Buck, Weld County Commissioner Chair. “However, given the amount of traffic the intersection sees and the length of the project, we thought an email newsletter would be a good tool to help keep residents informed and up to speed on when work at this intersection will be complete.”

The newsletter follows ones for similar projects, including 35th and O St. completed in 2022, and WCR 74 and WCR 33, completed early last year. Residents can expect updates that feature progress on various elements of roundabout construction — from milling and paving to curb and gutter work and more. The newsletter will also feature pictures that show the intersection transforming into a rural roundabout — big enough to fit large agricultural equipment as well as regular traffic.

“We understand the importance of this intersection to many, as more than 7,000 vehicles pass through it every day,” said Curtis Hall, Director of the Weld County Department of Public Works. “We appreciate the public’s patience as we work with our project contractor, WW Clyde, to complete this roundabout and encourage everyone to sign up for our project newsletter.”

Respect the road closed signs

Although the project is just a few days old, the Weld County Department of Public Works wants to remind the traveling public of the intersection’s closure — through Aug. 19, 2025 — and to follow the posted detours to navigate around construction. Local traffic within the area — residents with homes in the construction area, business owners, postal carriers, etc. — will still be accommodated and can access property by utilizing  WCR 4, 8 11, 15 or 17, which have been established as “Local Traffic Only” road closures.

“We’ve started to remove vegetation and part of the roadway, and we are still getting some cars driving around road closed signs and through barricades,” Hall said. “This puts everyone’s safety at risk, and it can damage the driver’s vehicle and our construction equipment not to mention the workers being injured. It can also damage the project or cause delays. Please help everyone stay safe by not driving through the construction area.”

Detours can be found on the Weld County Road Advisory Map.
